Recommending a baseline

Recommend baselines to approve a stable set of components for a UCM project.

About this task

Recommended baselines are the set of baselines that project team members use to rebase their development streams. In addition, when developers join the project, their development work areas are initialized with the recommended baselines.

Procedure

To recommend a baseline:
  1. Navigate to the UCM stream where you want to recommend a baseline. Use the VersionVault Navigator view or the VersionVault Details view.
  2. Right-click the stream name and select Recommend Baseline. The Recommend Baselines dialog opens.
The Baselines for components in stream table lists all of the components in the current UCM project along with their currently recommended baselines and the new baselines to recommend. If there are no baselines in the stream, the list of baselines is empty.
  3. You can modify the list of baselines to recommend by doing any of the following things:
    • To update the list of baselines to include only baselines that are currently at or above a specific promotion level, select a Filter Promotion Level and then click the Fetch Baselines.
    • To add a new baseline to the list, click Add. Note that if you add a baseline for a component that does not yet exist in the stream, the currently recommended baseline is not shown.
    • To replace a baseline currently on the list with a different baseline, select the baseline that you want to change and then click Change.
    • To remove a baseline from the list, select the baseline you want to remove and then click Remove. Note that you can only remove top-level baselines (atomic baselines or the top-most parents in baseline composites). You cannot remove dependent baselines (children of composites).
  4. Click OK to confirm your selections and recommend the baselines. Click Cancel to cancel the operation.
