Joining a UCM project and creating UCM views

Use the Join UCM Project wizard to join a UCM project and create UCM views.

About this task

The Join UCM Project wizard automates the tasks of joining a UCM project and creating UCM views that are bound to the project's streams.

Procedure

To join a UCM project and create the views in which you will work on project activities:
  1. Click the join UCM project icon icon on the VersionVault advanced toolbar to start the Join UCM Project wizard.
  2. Perform one of the following actions:
    • If you are creating an automatic view or a web view and the VersionVault WAN server you want to use appears in the Select a server for your new view box, select it. If you are not connected to the server, click Connect, enter your login information, and click OK.
    • If you are creating an automatic view or a web view and the server you want to use does not appear in the box, click Connect, enter the server URL and login information, and click OK.
Note: If you are trying to connect to a VersionVault WAN server and you do not know the server URL to use, ask your project manager.
    • If you are creating a dynamic view or snapshot view, select the VersionVault Local node, which is a context for accessing VersionVault resources on the Local Area Network.
Note: You must have the VersionVault native client (or "thick" client) installed on your machine to use dynamic or snapshot views and to see the VersionVault Local node. These view types views are designed to be used in Local Area Network (LAN) environments and are not supported in Wide Area Network (WAN) environments.
  3. Under the VersionVault or VersionVault Local node, select a UCM project to join:
    1. Select the Project VOB in which the project is defined.
    2. Click the plus sign (+) to left of the VOB tag to expand the list of projects defined in the VOB. If projects in the VOB are grouped into folders, expand the folders to find the project that you want to join.
    3. Select the project to join and click Next.
  4. Follow the remaining steps in the Wizard to create a UCM development view, UCM integration view, or both.

Results

The new views are in the VersionVault Navigator.

What to do next

If you created an automatic view or web view, the wizard offers to open the Edit Configuration dialog box. For more information about this and other ways to load resources, see Loading resources into a VersionVault view.
