Creating a VersionVault view

Create a VersionVault view to access resources in VersionVault repositories.

About this task

Base VersionVault and UCM require kinds types of views that specify the development policies of your development team. You must choose one or the other before you create the views you will need. You must also decide on the type of view that best accommodates how you work:
  • In a LAN environment, a dynamic view (if you always work connected to the LAN) or a snapshot view (if you sometimes work disconnected from the LAN)
  • In a WAN (or LAN) environment, an automatic view or a web view.
For more information on these choices, see Working with resources under HCL VersionVault source control.

The HCL VersionVault Explorer includes two view creation wizards, which are accessible from the VersionVault advanced toolbar. To create a VersionVault view, take one of the following actions:

  • Click the create view icon icon on the VersionVault toolbar or select VersionVault > Create View from the menu bar to start the View Creation wizard. You can also create a UCM view by selecting a UCM stream in the VersionVault Navigator, right-clicking, and selecting Create View from the context menu. For more information about creating Base VersionVault views, see Creating a base VersionVault view.
  • Click the join UCM project icon icon on the VersionVault UCM toolbar or select VersionVault > Join Project from the menu bar to start the Join UCM Project wizard. You can also join a UCM project by selecting a UCM stream in the VersionVault Navigatorr, right-clicking, and selecting Join Project from the context menu.
