Create Branch Type

Use the Create Branch Type dialog to create a new branch type.

Controls in the dialog box

The following controls appear in the dialog box:

Control name Control description
Type Name Name of the branch type to be created. A VOB cannot contain a branch type and a label type with the same name. For that reason, it is recommended that you make all letters in names of branch types lowercase (a-z) and letters in names of label types uppercase (A-Z).
In VOB Specifies the VOB containing the new branch type. Type the VOB name in this text box or select the VOB from the pull-down menu. After creating a branch type in a VOB, you can create branches of that type in that VOB's elements.
Comment (Optional) Enter a description of the branch type.
Create a global type Select this option to create a branch type that can be used as a global resource by client VOBs in the administrative VOB hierarchy. If this option is not selected, the new branch type is an ordinary branch type that can be used only in the current VOB.
Acquire globally defined types of the same name Checks all eclipsing branch types in client VOBs and converts them to local copies of the new global branch type. This option is active when you select the Create a global type option.
Comment (Optional) Enter a description of the new branch type.
OK Closes the Create Branch Type dialog and creates the new branch type.
Cancel Closes the Create Branch Type dialog without creating the new branch type.
