Using VersionVault web and automatic views

You can use a VersionVault web view or automatic view in the HCL VersionVault Explorer to access and manage VersionVault elements through an HCL VersionVault WAN server.

Before you begin

You must know the name of the VersionVault WAN server that you are going to connect to; if you do not know the VersionVault WAN server name, ask your VersionVault Administrator.

About this task

You can use the VersionVault web views or automatic views to perform operations on resources under VersionVault source control.

Procedure

To use a VersionVault web or automatic view:
  1. In theVersionVault Navigator, create a new view by selecting VersionVault -> Create View or join a VersionVault UCM project by selecting VersionVault -> Join Project.
  2. If you are creating a new view, in the Create View wizard do not specify the VersionVault Local server on the Choose a VersionVault server page and specify the View Type as Web or Automatic on the Create a VersionVault view page. If you are joining a VersionVault UCM project, in the Join Project wizard, do not specify the VersionVault Local server on the Join a UCM project page and specify the View Type as Web or Automatic on the Set up a VersionVault UCM development environment page.
  3. When prompted, connect to a VersionVault WAN server by specifying the server along with your user name and password in the Change Management dialog box. Do not choose VersionVault Local as the server.
  4. Finish the process of creating a new VersionVault view or joining a VersionVault UCM project.

Results

The new VersionVault view you created or the UCM project you joined appears in the VersionVault Navigator. Select the view or UCM project. You can perform VersionVault operations on the resources in the VersionVault Navigatorview and the VersionVault Details view.
