Exploring VersionVault metadata in base VersionVault VOBs

Use the VersionVault Navigator and the VersionVault Details views to explore VersionVault metadata in base VersionVault (non-UCM project) VOBs.

About this task

The VersionVault Navigator and the VersionVault Details views display branch types and label types in base VersionVault VOBs. Using these views, you can also perform VersionVault operations on the metadata, such as creating label and branch types, and applying labels to VersionVault resources.

Procedure

To explore VersionVault metadata:
  1. Click Window > Show View > VersionVault Navigator.
If the VersionVault Navigator is not in the list, click Other > VersionVault and then select the VersionVault Navigator.
    The VersionVault Navigator opens.
  2. If using a Web view, click the plus sign (+) to the left of the VersionVault node that is followed by the name of the server that you want to explore.
If using a Dynamic view, click the plus sign (+) to the left of the VersionVault Local node or click the plus sign (+) to the left of the Dynamic view name. At any time, you can also click any object in the VersionVault Navigator and open the VersionVault Details view.
The node expands and displays the VOBs known to the server.
  3. In the VersionVault Navigator, click the plus sign (+) to the left of a base VersionVault VOB (VOB folder icon) to explore the metadata.
  4. Click the Branch Types or Label Types folder.
The branch types or label types defined in the selected VOB are displayed in the VersionVault Details view.

Results

While exploring a base VersionVault VOB with the VersionVault Navigator view, you can right-click the Branch Types or Label Types folders to create new branch and label types. In the VersionVault Details view, you can right-click a label type and select Apply Label from the context menu to apply the label to multiple HCL VersionVault resources.
