Target: Catalog Browsing Behavior

Use this target in web and dialog activities to target customers who have browsed specific parts of your store catalog while shopping on your site over time. For example, if a customer has repeatedly browsed certain categories, then that customer is a prime target for advertisements or promotions related to those categories.

Introduced in Feature Pack 2You can also use this target in search rules.

Example

Here is an example of a web activity that uses this target effectively:

When a customer views the e-Marketing Spot in the header banner: If a customer has browsed catalog entries from both the Televisions category and the Speakers category, then display an advertisement for a home theatre bundle.

Here is another example:

When a customer views the e-Marketing Spot in the second row of the Electronics category page: If a customer has browsed either the Laptop Computers category or the Desktop Computers category at least twice in the last two days, display an ad with a contact number to chat with a computer sales expert.

Guidelines for using this target

When setting up this target, you must specify the part of the catalog that the customer must have browsed, that is:
  • Specific catalog entries
  • Specific categories
  • Catalog entries from specific categories

You can also specify:

  • The number of times the customer must have browsed the specified parts of the catalog. Note that the customer must have browsed the specified part of the catalog at least once for the target to match.
