Marketplace Operator

The Marketplace Operator is the entity that is hosting the marketplace. Anyone with this role can on-board and manage Marketplace Sellers. The Marketplace Operator role should only be assigned to users who belong to Commerce Owner’s Organizations, and Marketplace Operator role is added to Administrators. Managing Orders, Catalog updates, and Inventories is the responsibility of the Marketplace Seller but the Marketplace Operator can perform all the tasks on behalf of the Marketplace Seller. The Marketplace Operator can change the store status (Online/Offline) and update the seller details.

Note: The Marketplace Operator will not be able to see the Workspace Management Tool unless the Workspace Task Group Approver role is also assigned. You can assign the Workspace Task Group Approver role to the Operator while creating a new Marketplace Operator or you can add this role to the existing Operator as well.

Marketplace Operator users can be created in the Root Organization but can play the Marketplace Operator role in different organizations. Marketplace Operator users can manage individual Marketplace Sellers, so they should play the “Marketplace Operator” role in the “Marketplace Seller Organization”, as this organization is bootstrapped from HCL Commerce and is used to own all individual Marketplace Seller Organizations. Marketplace Operator users need to assign a Marketplace Seller to a Catalog Asset Store. Operator users have the Marketplace Operator role in either the specific organization that owns the Catalog Asset Store (e.g EmeraldCAS Organization), or play the Marketplace Operator role in the Extended Sites Organization that owns all of the Catalog Asset Store organizations. Similarly, Marketplace Operator users assign the Marketplace Seller to a participating Marketplace Store, which is an e-site store, so Marketplace Operator users play the Marketplace Operator role either in a very specific eSite store organization (e.g EmeraldMP Organization), or in an Extended Sites Seller Organization which owns all the eSites store organizations. A Marketplace Operator user can play the Marketplace Operator role in the Root Organization to manage all Marketplace Sellers, all Catalog Assets Store and all Marketplace Stores.

Note: The site administrator has access similar to that of a Marketplace Operator and can perform all the tasks that can be performed by the Marketplace Operator.
