Creating a policy

You can create new ACLs policies in a VersionVault VOB.

Before you begin

To create a new ACLs policy, you must be connected to the VOB server (in the case of a dynamic view) or the VersionVault WAN server (in the cases of the web view or automatic view).

About this task

The access control entries in a policy list a principal and its granted permissions. Principals in a policy are usually roles, with the name of the role defined by the administrator. You can also put in specific users or groups as well, but most administrators prefer to put them into the rolemaps implementing the policy.
Note: VersionVault does not support negative (deny) permissions in access control entries, only positive (grant) access control entries.

Procedure

To create a new ACLs policy in the VersionVault Explorer:
  1. In the VersionVault Navigator view, locate the VOB where you want to create the new policy.
  2. Click the plus sign (+) next to the VOB name to expand the node.
  3. Click ACLs.
  4. Right-click Policies and select Create a Policy from the context menu.
  5. On the Create Policy page, enter a name for the new policy in the Policy Name text box.
  6. Add or select principals for the policy in the Principals panel.
  7. Specify permissions for the principals in the Permissions panel.
  8. Click Save.
