Customize Profiles

Application listbox

The Application listbox allows you to select an existing profile to edit or delete.

If you change a setting in a profile, then select another profile, then return to the previous profile, the change you made is preserved. For example, if you change the Key Word in a profile called NANote, then switch to another profile, then switch back to NANote, the change that you made in the Key Word for NANote is preserved.
However, changes in any profile are not saved permanently until you click OK.
To exit without saving any changes, click Cancel.

Profile tab

This tab contains the settings required to:

Match a document to a profile.
Print a document after it has been matched to a profile.

Use the settings on this tab when you are creating a new profile or editing an existing profile. You can also edit any predefined profile.

Identification: Enter three sets of information that allow ZipPrint to recognize the type of a document after the document has been opened. You must completely enter all three sets of information.


	For each of these three sets of information, do not leave the String field blank (that is, either empty, or containing only blank spaces). If you leave a String field blank, ZipPrint processing produces an invalid result.

Key Word
- Type the starting row and column of a character string that appears at the same location on every screen of a document of this type. Then type the character string itself, using the same upper or lower case characters as in the original.
- For example, the Office Vision Log Viewer displays the character string VIEW THE NOTE at row 1, column 33 of every screen of the document. Therefore you would enter 1 in the Row field, 33 in the Col field, and VIEW THE NOTE in the String field.
- Use -1 in the Row field to indicate any row and -1 in the Col field to indicate any column. For example, using -1 in the Row field and 3 in the Col field causes ZipPrint to search for the string beginning in column 3 of every row of the screen.

Top String

Type the starting row and column of a character string that appears on the first screen of every document of this type. Then type the character string itself, using the same upper or lower case characters as in the original.
For example, at row 2, column 2 of the first screen of an Office Vision Log Viewer document the string From: appears. Therefore you would enter 2 in the Row field, 2 in the Col field, and From: in the String field.
Use -1 in the Row field to indicate any row and -1 in the Col field to indicate any column. For example, using 2 in the Row field and -1 in the Col field causes ZipPrint to search for the string beginning in every column of row 2 of the first screen.

	The values that you specify for Top String enable ZipPrint to locate the first screen to be printed. However, ZipPrint does not automatically print the text on the first screen starting with the Top String. Instead, to determine which text on the first screen is to be printed, ZipPrint uses the values that you specify for First Screen in the Printing Ranges.

Bottom String
- Type the starting row and column of a character string that appears on the last screen of every document of this type. Then type the character string itself, using the same upper or lower case characters as in the original.
- For example, on some row and at column 31 of the last screen of every document the Office Vision Log Viewer displays the string E N D O F N O T E. Therefore you would type -1 in the Row field, 31 in the Col field, and E N D O F N O T E in the String field.
- Use -1 in the Row field to indicate any row and -1 in the Col field to indicate any column. For example, using -1 in the Row field and 31 in the Col field causes ZipPrint to search for the string in column 31 of every row of the screen.
- In many cases you will need to enter -1 in the row field, because an ending string (such as END OF NOTE) can typically occur on any row of the last screen.
- The line containing the Bottom String is not printed. Instead, printing ends with the last line before the line containing the Bottom String.

Printing Ranges: Enter the row and column coordinates of the rectangular block of text that ZipPrint is to print from each screen.
- First Screen Type the row and column coordinates of the rectangular block of text that ZipPrint is to print from the first screen of the document.
  - Under From type the row and column of the first character of the rectangular block of text (upper left corner of block). Do not use -1 in these fields.
  - Under To type the row and column of the last character of the rectangular block of text (lower right corner of block).
    - Use -1 as the Col value to indicate that you want to include all the characters up to and including the last displayable column on the screen.
    - Use -1 as the Row value to indicate that you want to include all the rows on the screen up to and including the last row.
- Remaining Screens Type the row and column coordinates of the rectangular block of text that ZipPrint is to print from the remaining screens of the document.
  - Under From type the row and column of the first character of the rectangular block of text (upper left corner of the block). Do not use -1 in these fields.
  - Under To type the row and column of the last character of the rectangular block of text (lower right corner of the block).
    - Use -1 as the Col value to indicate that you want to include all the characters up to and including the last displayable column on the screen.
    - Use -1 as the Row value to indicate that you want to include all the rows on the screen up to and including the last row.
- Include Bottom String
  - Select this check box to have ZipPrint print the row on the last page that contains the Bottom String (if this row is within the printing range for the Remaining Screens).
  - Clear this check box to have ZipPrint print the rows on the last page up to, but not including, the row containing the Bottom String (if these rows are within the printing range for the Remaining Screens).

Scrolling Settings: Enter the names of the keys that the application uses for paging through the document.

Keys Type the name of the key that the application uses for paging forward and the name of the key that the application uses for paging backward. For example, the Office Vision Log Viewer uses F10 for paging forward and F11 for paging backward.


	If you enter the wrong scrolling keys for the application, ZipPrint displays an error message when you try to do a ZipPrint. Do not leave the Forward or Backward field blank (that is, either empty, or containing only blank spaces). If you leave either field blank, ZipPrint processing produces an invalid result.

Restore Screen Position After Print Select this check box to have ZipPrint restore the original screen position after finishing the print. Clear this check box to have ZipPrint to leave the document positioned at the last screen after printing.

Automatically updating coordinates and string values

You can have Z and I Emulator for Web automatically update row, column, and string values to reflect the location, size, and contents of a marking rectangle in the session window.

You can use this feature to update the following parameters:

The Key Word, Top String, and Bottom String parameters in the Identification group.
The First Screen and Remaining Screens parameters in the Printing Ranges group.

To use this feature, follow the steps listed below. These steps use updating the Key Word parameter as an example.

In the Customize Profiles window, place the text cursor in one of the input fields belonging to the parameter that you want to update. For example, place the text cursor in the Row field, Col field, or String field of the Key Word parameter.
In the session window, use the marking rectangle to mark a rectangular block of text. For example, use the marking rectangle to mark the string VIEW THE NOTE at row 1, column 33 of the first page of a note viewed in the note log.
When you create the marking rectangle, the backgrounds of the input fields for the parameter in the Customize Profiles window in which you placed the text cursor turn yellow, to indicate that these fields are affected by the marking rectangle. Also, the values for the marking rectangle appear in the input fields of the parameter.
For example, the backgrounds of the three input fields of the Key Word parameter turn yellow. The Row field is set to 1, the Col Value is set to 33, and the String field is set to VIEW THE NOTE.
As you change the size and location of the marking rectangle, Z and I Emulator for Web continues to update the input fields belonging to the parameter.
To stop the automatic update, clear the marking rectangle from the session window.

Advanced tab

This tab contains macro settings that you can adjust if necessary to make the ZipPrint macro execute correctly in a particular environment.

Usually you will not need to change these settings.

Each of these settings controls the value of a macro option that is defined in the Macro Programming Guide. You should not modify one of these settings unless you understand how the corresponding macro option works.

Set Recognition Limit

The default value for this option is 10000. This single option controls two behaviors of ZipPrint:

The maximum number of application screens that ZipPrint can print in one ZipPrint operation
The default value of 10000 allows you to print up to 10000 application screens in one ZipPrint operation. (The number of rows and columns in each application screen does not matter.) If you need to print a document or a section of a document that contains more than 10000 application screens (for example, a document containing 11500 application screens), then set this option to the maximum value that you want to use (11500).

If you use ZipPrint to print a document (or a section of a document) that has a greater number of application screens (for example 10001) than are specified in this option (for example, 10000), then ZipPrint might fail to print one or more application screens at the end of the document (in this example, 1 application screen) or might fail to print any of the document at all, depending on which application screen you are located on when you start the ZipPrint.

However, if you generally print smaller documents or sections of documents (for example, never more than 200 application screens), then you might prefer to set this option to a smaller value (such as 200). The next subsection explains why.
How many times ZipPrint pages backward (or forward) through the application trying to find a Top String (or Bottom String) before giving up.
Normally you do not need to be concerned with this behavior of ZipPrint.

However, you will notice an oddity if you specify an invalid Top String or Bottom String or an invalid Row or Column number in your application profile. This oddity is due to the fact that ZipPrint cannot by itself recognize the start or end of a document, but instead relies on the Top String and Bottom String that you specify.

If ZipPrint pages back to the first application screen of a document without finding the Top String (or pages forward to the last application screen without finding the Bottom String), then ZipPrint continues unsuccessfully attempting to page backward (or forward) until it has made a total number of attempts to find the Top String (or the Bottom String) equal to the value that you have set in Set Recognition Limit. Then it gives up and displays an error message.

Therefore, in such a situation, you could wait less time (seconds versus minutes) for ZipPrint to come to its senses and give up, if Set Recognition Limit is set to a substantially lower number (200 versus 10000).

Literally, this option refers to the number of times ZipPrint (a macro) re-performs one of the macro screens of which is it constituted before terminating. Internally, for ZipPrint, this option is the same as the Set Recognition Limit option on the General tab of the Screens tab of the Macro Editor.

Timeout Between Screens

Specifies the timeout period allowed, in milliseconds, for the Macro runtime to recognize the next macro screen to be processed. The default value is 60000 milliseconds (1 minute). The Macro runtime terminates the macro when this timeout value expires.

This option is the same as the Timeout Between Screens option on the Macro tab of the Macro Editor.

Pause Between Actions

Specifies the length, in milliseconds, of the time that the Macro runtime pauses after performing a macro action. The default value is 300 milliseconds.

This option is the same as the Pause Between Actions option on the Macro tab of the Macro Editor. See Pause between Actions.

Actions

New: Creates a new profile. Z and I Emulator for Web prompts you for a name for the new profile. Type the name you want to use, then enter the values that you want for the new profile, and finally click OK to save the new profile.
Delete: Deletes the currently selected profile.
OK: Saves your settings after you have created or edited a profile.
Cancel: Closes the Custom Application Profile window and discards any changes that you made since you last selected a profile in the Application listbox.
