Target, On-demand Target, Broker, Gateway or CLI fail to install or start on Windows

Starting from version 10.0.0 all the native components require the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable. This version of the redistributable is already embedded into the installer of such components. However, on some systems, the installation of this required package might fail and the specific component cannot be either installed or started. Typical errors are:
  • The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
  • The program cannot start because api-ms-win-crt-stdio-I1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
To fix this problem, perform the following actions:
  1. Update the OS to the latest version and install all the required fix available through Windows Update.
  2. Try to run or install again the Remote Control component.
If the component installation or run keeps failing:
  1. If a Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable is already installed, uninstall it.
  2. Download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 from internet and install it.
  3. Try to run or install again the Remote Control component.
Note: The On-demand Target does not include the redistributable package. Therefore, for the On-demand Target to start successfully, install the redistributable package manually.
