Create shipping charges

Use Management Center Tools to create new shipping charges.

Procedure

  1. Open Management Center Tools.
  2. From Hamburger menu, click Shipping > Shipping codes. The Shipping Codes page is displayed for the selected store.

    HCL Commerce Enterprise In an extended site environment, shipping codes that are defined for an asset store extends to its stores. Shipping charges in these shipping codes are read only and no additional shipping charges can be created for these shipping codes.

  3. Select the shipping code to which the shipping charge applies.
  4. From the three dots given in Actions menu, click Charges. The Shipping Charges page is displayed.
  5. To define a new shipping charge, click New. The New Shipping charge page is displayed.
  6. In the Define Charge details field, provide the required information:
    • In the Name column, type the name of the shipping charge.
    • In the Description column, type a description of the new shipping charge.
    • Select the Time period for the charge. If you select Always, the charges will be applicable for all the period of time. If you select want the specified charge to apply During a specified period, select this option. Once you opt this option, you will have to specify the Start and End date for the specific period.
  7. Click Next to define Fulfillment Options.
  8. To define a new fulfillment option, click New. The Create New Fulfillment Option page is displayed. You can create a fulfillment option by associating a fulfillment center with a jurisdiction and shipping mode.
    Note: Define fulfillment options that apply to this charge. If you have two different shipping modes that have different charges, define only one option now, and define the other when you create a new charge.
    • Click New to define the Fulfillment Options.
    • From the Fulfillment center list, select the fulfillment center that fulfills the orders.
    • From the Jurisdiction list, select the jurisdiction that the selected fulfillment center services.
    • From the Shipping mode list, select the shipping mode that the selected fulfillment center and jurisdiction services.
    • In the Precedence column, type the order of precedence that this combination of fulfillment center, jurisdiction, and shipping mode takes over other combinations.
    • Click Save, to save this fulfillment option.
    • To create another fulfillment option, repeat all the sub-steps mentioned below 8th step.
  9. Click Next. The Define charge Type field is displayed.
  10. In the Define Charge Type field, select the type of charge:
    1. By Quantity: Creates charges based on the number of items shipped.
      • If you have selected by quantity, the Define charge by quantity is displayed.
        • From the Currency list, select the currency for the charge, for example, USD (US dollars).
        • Click New to define the new Range.
          • To add a range, in the Start of range field, 0 will be available by default. For first time Start of range will be disabled with 0 number.
          • To add another range, repeat the previous step. Once you enter a second range, the end number of the first range is automatically entered. For instance, if your second range starts with 6, your first range becomes 0 - 5.
          • In case, for the second range you entered any value between 0-5, then the first range will be updated automatically. For example, the second starting range you entered is 3, then the first will be automatically updated as 0-2 and the second will be 3-5.
          • In the Charge column, type the amount to charge for that range. For instance, the amount to ship an order that contains 0 - 5 items might be $5.00. This amount is in the currency you selected from the list. To define amounts in second currency, select another new currency from the list.
      • Click Save, to save the range.
    2. By Weight: Creates charges based on the weight of the order items shipped.
      • If you selected by weight:
        1. From the Unit of measure list, select the unit of measurement. For example, kilogram.
        2. From the Currency list, select the currency for the charge. For example, USD (US dollars).
        3. Click New to define the Range.
          • To add a range, in the Start of range field, 0 will be available by default. For first time Start of range will be disabled with 0 number.
          • To add another range, repeat the previous step. Once you enter a second range, the end number of the first range is automatically entered. For instance, if your second range starts with 6, your first range becomes 0 - 5.

            If you check out something that weighs 5 kilograms, your charge is 5 X 4 = $20.00 (Falls under first range).

            If you check out something that weighs 8 kilograms, your charge is 8 X 2 = $16.00 (Falls under second range).

            Note: Use care once you select the weight or when the order has a combination of free shipping items. Free shipping items include downloadable products, and non-free shipping items. In such a scenario, ensure that the weight of the downloadable products and their cost is set to 0.
          • In the Charge column, type the amount to charge for that range. For instance, the amount to ship an order that contains 0 - 5 items might be $5.00. This amount is in the currency you selected from the list. To define amounts in second currency, select another new currency from the list.
      • Click Save, to save the range.
    3. Fixed: Creates charges that are independent of quantity or weight.
      • From the Currency list, select the currency for the charge, for example, USD (US dollars).
      • In the Amount field, type the amount for the fixed charge, for example, $6.00. This amount is in the currency you selected from the list. To define amounts in second currency, select another new currency from the list.
      • Click Save, to save the range.
  11. Click Finish to save your settings and return to the Shipping Charges page. The new shipping charge is displayed in the list.
