Designing a layout

If you have chosen to work on a task in the Workspace Management tool, the workspace context associated with the task will be used to design a layout. The new layout design will only be available in the workspace until the associated task group is approved and the new design is committed to approved content.

About this task

HCL Commerce Version 9.1.13.0 or laterNote: You can design a Storefront Asset Store layout if the selected store is a Storefront Asset Store. You cannot make design changes to inherited Storefront Asset Store layouts if an e-site store is selected.

Procedure

  1. Open Management Center Tools.
  2. From the hamburger menu, select Manage Stores > Page Composer. A landing page opens, which lists all the existing pages. This landing page consists of two sections, Pages and Layouts.
  3. Click on Layouts to view the layout dashboard. This dashboard lists all the layouts available by default. You can Search for the layout from this dashboard.
  4. You can select the store from the Store Filter.
    Note: You cannot select the store unless the Hide Filters button is disabled.
  5. Double-click on the layout you want to design.
  6. HCL Commerce Version 9.1.10.0 or later You can also hover over the layout and click on the icon to change the layout template.
  7. The Edit layout page opens.
  8. You can add new widgets to the existing template or delete already existing widgets from the template.
  9. You can change the template and design a layout with a new template. Click Change template, and it will list all the available template pages.
  10. Click on the new template that you want to assign to the layout.
  11. From the list of widgets available on the right side window, drag and drop them to add to the template. Changes to a layout's design are saved automatically.
    Note: When you change the template for a layout, all of the defined widgets are removed. You start over with an empty layout again.
