Assigning pages to a layout

If you have chosen to work on a task in the Workspace Management tool, the workspace context associated with the task will be used to assign pages to a layout. The changes to the assigned pages will only be available in the workspace until the associated task group is approved and the changes are committed to approved content.

Before you begin

If you are assigning pages to the Storefront Asset Store layout:
  • You can create an asset store-level pages or layout assignments if the selected store is a Storefront Asset Store. You cannot create asset store level page or layout assignments if the selected store is an e-site. Any assignments made when an e-site is selected is only applicable to the selected e-site.
  • You can delete asset store level page or layout assignments if the selected store is a Storefront Asset Store. You cannot delete asset store level page or layout assignments if the selected store is an e-site. The inherited assignments are read-only.
  • You can edit asset store-level page or layout assignments if the selected store is a Storefront Asset Store. You cannot edit asset store level page or layout assignments if the selected store is an e-site. The inherited assignments are read-only.
  • The page assignments will indicate if they are inherited. Inherited page contains the Storefront Asset Store name. You can edit the layout assignments from the Edit layout page.

Procedure

  1. Open Management Center Tools.
  2. From the hamburger menu, select Manage Stores > Page Composer. A landing page opens, which lists all the existing pages. This landing page consists of two sections, Pages and Layouts.
  3. Click on Layouts to view the layout dashboard. This dashboard lists all the layouts available by default. You can Search for the layout from this dashboard.
  4. You can select the store from the Store Filter.
    Note: You cannot select the store unless the Hide Filters button is disabled.
  5. Double-click on the layout for which you want to assign pages.
  6. The Edit layout page opens. The Design tab is selected by default. Click on Pages. The pages tab opens.
  7. This page displays all the pages already assigned to this layout. Click on Assign pages to this layout.
  8. Select the Content pages you want to assign to this layout. Selected pages will be added in the Assigned Pages column.
    Note: It will show an error message if the selected content page is not compatible with the layout.
  9. Select the Catalog pages you want to assign to this layout. Selected pages will be added in the Assigned pages column. All the selected pages will be assigned to the layout.
