Opening Management Center tools

Perform business tasks using the tools within the Management Center.

The following tools can be available in Management Center:
  • Assets tool
  • WebSphere Commerce EnterpriseCatalog Filter and Pricing tool
  • Catalogs tool
  • Introduced in Feature Pack 1Installments tool

Before you begin

Ensure that a site administrator has assigned a role to you that gives you the authority to work in the Management Center tools that you need. For information on required roles, see IBM Management Center for WebSphere Commerce.

Procedure

  1. Open the Management Center.
  2. Open the appropriate tool:
    1. If you are working in a workspace-enabled environment, the Management Center is read-only for the current user. Before you can work with the tools, you must complete one of the following steps in the Tasks tool:The Tasks tool is visible only if workspaces are enabled and is open by default to display your assigned tasks.
    2. Depending on whether you accessed or used the tool during this session:
      • If the tool is not already open, from the Management Center menu, select the tool name.
      • If the tool is already open, a tab for it is displayed in the main work area. Click the tab for the tool; for example, select Catalogs.
  3. The steps to open a Management Center tool are dependent on the version of WebSphere Commerce that is installed:

What to do next

Version Steps
After you open any of the Management Center tools, except for the Tasks tool:
  • If you are authorized to work with only one store, that store is selected by default.
  • If you do not have a default store that is specified in the Management Center preferences, from the Store list, select the store that you want to manage with the selected tool.

To close a tool, close its tab by selecting the X next to the tab name.

After you open any of the Management Center tools, except for the Workspace Management tool:
  • If you are authorized to work with only one store, that store is selected by default.
  • If you do not have a default store that is specified in the Management Center preferences, from the Store list, select the store that you want to manage with the selected tool.

To close a tool, close its tab by selecting the X next to the tab name.
