Additional steps for WebSphere Commerce search interim fixes: Recreating the search directory structure

You might need to complete these common steps to enable certain fixes in WebSphere Commerce search APARs. This task recreates the WebSphere Commerce search directory structure.

Before you begin

  1. Install the interim fix for the APAR you require.
  2. Backup your existing solrhome directory:
    • SolarisLinuxAIXWindowsWC_installdir/instances/instance_name/search
    • For IBM i OS operating system/search
    • WebSphere Commerce DeveloperWCDE_installdir\search
    You will then recreate the search directory structure and merge your customizations back into search later in this task.
  3. Ensure that the WebSphere Commerce search server is stopped.
  4. WebSphere Commerce DeveloperEnsure that the WebSphere Commerce test server is stopped.

Procedure

  1. Delete the following directories:
    The current search index directory:
    • solrhome/MC_MasterCatalogId
    The preprocess configuration directories:
    • SolarisLinuxAIXWindowsWC_installdir/instances/instance_name/search/pre-processConfig
    • For IBM i OS operating system/search/pre-processConfig
    • WebSphere Commerce DeveloperWCDE_installdir\search\pre-processConfig
  2. Start the WebSphere Commerce search server and WebSphere Commerce instance.
  3. WebSphere Commerce DeveloperEnsure that the WebSphere Commerce test server is stopped if you are using a Derby database.
  4. Recreate the search directory structure by completing the following task: Setting up the WebSphere Commerce search index structure.
  5. Merge your customizations back into the newly-created templates and search configuration, if necessary.
  6. Preprocess the WebSphere Commerce search index.
  7. Build the WebSphere Commerce search index.
