Finding and associating catalog assets

You can find and associate assets such as files, URLs or existing attachments to categories, sales catalogs, and catalog entries.

Before you begin

  1. If the asset is a file or attachment, ensure that the file or attachment is created in the Assets tool in Management Center. See Creating catalog managed files and Creating attachments.
  2. From the explorer view, navigate to the sales catalog, category, or catalog entry you want to associate an asset to. Alternatively, you can find the category, or catalog entry.
  3. Open the business object (sales catalog, category, or catalog entry); then click the Associated Assets tab.

Procedure

  1. Associate a file:
    1. Open the utilities view by clicking Show utilities view; then click the Find tab.
    2. From the search filter, select Attachments or Files.
    3. Search or browse for the attachment or search or browse for the file. See Finding objects in Management Center
    4. Drag or copy the file or attachment from the find list to the Associated Assets table in the properties view.
      A new row is appended to the table with the Path and Name columns.
    5. Click the empty columns or double-click to go to the attachment properties view.
    PropertyDescription
    Sequence The order in which the object is displayed. Numbers are displayed in ascending order.
    Type Asset icon is displayed. This field is read-only.
    Store If workspaces are enabled, or in an extended sites model; the store the asset belongs to.
    Path One of the following options are displayed:
    • The path of the file or URL is displayed if the file or URL is directly associated with the business object. The path also displays when there is only one file or URL in the attachment.
    • More than one asset is displayed if the business object associates an existing attachment with the business object, and if there are multiple files or URLs in the attachment.
    • No assets is displayed if there are no files or URLs in the attachment.
    Code The language independent identifier.

  2. Associate a URL:
    1. In the Associated Assets table, click Add URL.
      A new row is appended to the table.
    2. Add the following information to the new row:

    Path The path of the URL.

  3. If you are associating thumbnail angle images and full-size angle images, assign the same sequence number for each individual thumbnail and the corresponding full-size image.
    1. Assign a sequence number for the thumbnail angle image.
      For example, 1.0.
    2. Assign the same sequence number for the corresponding full-size angle image.
      For example, 1.0.
    3. Complete step 3.a and step 3.b for the rest of the images with a different sequence number for each pair of images.
    4. Click Save.
    Note: The search index must be rebuilt before the changes are displayed in the store. Contact a site administrator to rebuild the search index or, if an UpdateSearchIndex job is scheduled, wait for the specified time interval to pass.
  4. Click Save; then click Close.
