Introduced in Feature Pack 2

Search rules influence search results for product merchandising

Search rules modify how search results are displayed. You can determine how search results are listed, such as targeting different products in search results by changing the order of the search results, adding or replacing search criteria, or specifying the top search results.

What are some examples of search rules?

Here are some examples of search rules Marketing Managers can create using the Marketing tool:
  • Feature Pack 6 or laterWhen a customer searches the store, change the order of the initial search results based on certain ranking factors. For example, adjust the ranking criteria to ensure catalog entries are promoted or demoted in search results.
  • Feature Pack 6 or laterWhen a customer searches the store, change the order of the initial search results based on inventory counts. For example, ensure that catalog entries in search results are promoted when overstocked, or excluded when out-of-stock.
  • When a customer searches the store, change the order of the initial search results based on certain boost factors. For example, adjust the ranking criteria to ensure shoppers find patio furniture more easily in store search results
  • When a customer searches the store, return certain products as the top search results, even if the products are unrelated to the search keywords.
  • When a customer searches the store, add or replace their search keywords with alternative search keywords to target certain search results.
