Hijacking a file

This topic describes a TSO Client usage scenario that allows you to perform a hijack-like operation.

Before you begin

To enable the edit function required for this scenario, you need to specify ENABLE_CHECKOVERWRITE TRUE in your profile.

About this task

If you are unable to check out a file in reserved mode, you can use the procedure described in this topic to perform a hijack-like operation. For instructions for each step of this procedure, see the related topics.

Procedure

  1. Edit the file.
  2. Copy the edited file to a new member.
  3. Wait for the file to be available for checkout in reserved mode.
  4. Check out the file in reserved mode.
Because you have previously edited the file, this checkout operation results in the Confirm Member Update window, which prompts you to overwrite the existing file. Because you have copied the existing file to a new member, it is safe to overwrite the existing file.
  5. Confirm the overwrite operation.
  6. Merge the checked out file with the copy made in step 2
  7. Check in the merged file.
