Creating and editing search rules directly from store preview

When you are viewing search results in store preview, you can display Create and Edit links embedded in store preview pages. The links open the Marketing tool to the correct window for you to edit the search rules that were triggered by your search, or create new search rules.

Before you begin

  1. WebSphere Commerce EnterpriseIf you work in an extended site, ensure that an IT developer configures the click-to-edit function to open your preferred store. Configuration instructions are in Changing the store preference setting for the click-to-edit function.
  2. If you use the Mozilla Firefox browser, for the best experience, you can configure the JavaScript settings in the browser to display Management Center on top of the store preview page after you click a Create or Edit link:
    For Firefox versions 22 and earlier:
    1. Open the Firefox browser.
    2. Click Tools > Options.
    3. Click the Content tab.
    4. To the right of Enable JavaScript, click Advanced.
    5. In the Advanced JavaScript Settings window, select Raise or lower windows.
    6. Click OK.
    For Firefox versions 23 and later:
    1. Open the Firefox browser.
    2. In the address bar, type about:config.
    3. If a warning message is displayed, click I'll be careful, I promise.
    4. In the Search field, type dom.disable_window_flip.
    5. In the Preference Name column, double-click the row for the preference named dom.disable_window_flip. The Value column changes to false.
    6. Close the tab in the browser.

Procedure

  1. Launch store preview.
  2. Search your store by using a keyword, and view the search results page.
  3. At the top of the store preview window, click Show Page Information.
  4. In the upper left corner of the product listing for the search results, click Show Information.
  5. Click the Edit link that is next to the search rule that you want to change, or click the Create link to create a search rule.
