Scheduling a messaging to run after a scheduled flowchart run

Scheduling a messaging to run after a flowchart run ensures that the recipient list has the most current recipient data available. You must also confirm that changes to the document referenced by the messaging are complete and that the latest version is published.

About this task

You must schedule the flowchart run before you begin to schedule the messaging to run. When you select the option to run a messaging after a scheduled flowchart run, the option to schedule a messaging run is disabled until you schedule the flowchart run.

You can use a single scheduled flowchart run to trigger one or more different messagings. If you schedule multiple messagings, each messaging must use a different OLT.

Note: Scheduling multiple large messagings to run concurrently can extend the time that is required to complete the messagings.

You schedule messaging run times according to the time kept on the server where you installed the Unica Platform. The scheduling wizard displays the current server time. This time may be different from your local time.

Procedure

  1. On the mailing tab of the messaging that you want to schedule, click Schedule This Mailing.
A wizard opens to create the messaging schedule.
  2. On the Mailing Schedule page, enter a name for the schedule in the Schedule Name field.

You can enter a brief description of the schedule.

  3. In the Schedule Run section, select Start after this scheduled flowchart run.

In the drop-down list, select the scheduled flowchart run that you want to trigger a messaging.

The list contains scheduled flowchart runs that run in the future, not yet started, and are not currently used with a scheduled messaging.

  4. To apply send time optimization, select Apply Send Time Optimization. Send Time Optimization helps the customers to deliver emails to recipients when they are most likely to open the message.
Note: For Send Time Optimization functionality to work, you must have Campaign, version 12.1.2.
  5. On the Scheduling Options page, you can select the following options.
    • Lock the Deliver document. This option is selected by default to prevent changes to the Deliver document referenced by the messaging until the messaging runs. Clear this option to allow changes.

The option to lock the recipient list is disabled when you select this method to schedule a messaging.

  6. On the Confirm Scheduling page, select the check boxes to confirm that each messaging preparation is complete. When done, click Schedule.

Results

The Mailing tab now displays the name of the scheduled flowchart run and the trigger that the system sends when the run completes.
