Defining an external SIP peer for routing calls from the Video Manager

Enable IBM® Sametime® clients to call users outside of Sametime by configuring the external SIP peer in the Sametime Video Manager.

Procedure

  1. Browse to the WebSphere® Integrated Solutions Console on the server hosting the Sametime System Console.
  2. Log in to the Integrated Solutions Console as the WebSphere administrator.
  3. In the navigation tree, click Sametime System Console > Sametime Servers > Sametime Video Manager Servers.
  4. In the list of Video Managers, click the name of the Video Manager that you are updating.
  5. Click Configure the Sametime SIP Peer.
  6. Complete these fields on the Sametime Video Manager Servers - Sametime SIP PR SIP Peer page:

    Column 1 provides the field name and column 2 provides the recommended value.

    Field Value
    Name The deployment name of the Sametime Media Manager's SIP Proxy/Registrar component is assigned during installation, and cannot be modified.
    Description Type a description for this SIP peer.
    Next hop address Type the IP address of the SIP Proxy/Registrar.
    Port Type the SIP signalling port number. Default is the standard UDP/TCP port, 5060. If the peer server uses a different port number, specify that number. If this field is blank, the system uses the full RFC 3263 procedure to determine the port via DNS.
    Use route header Select this option.
    Prefix range You can leave this field blank.
    Transport page The transport protocol to use when contacting this SIP peer. Choose one of these
    • Auto Detect - Tells the system to select the protocol using DNS as specified in RFC 3263, and is not valid if "next hop address' is a numeric IP address instead of a host/domain name.
    • UDP - User Datagram Protocol. Default setting.
    • TCP - Transmission Control Protocol
    • TLS - Transport Layer Security
  7. Click OK.
