Using HCL Docs
HCL Connections™ Docs is a new office productivity suite for working on documents, spreadsheets and presentations together. It provides real-time co-editing, allowing users to work on documents individually or collaboratively. Comment on a document, or even participate in a discussion. All this without the need of desktop software.

  - Publishing a version of a file
    In order for readers to see a draft created in HCL Connections Docs, or edits made in Docs, a new version of the file must be published. As of August 2015, if a file is being created or edited in Docs for the first time, publishing is set to occur automatically. If a file was previously created or edited in Docs, you must either enable the Publish Automatically command in that file, or publish each new version manually.
  - What if I have a file conflict?
    A person can decide to upload a new version of a file while another person is editing the file online or has saved an online file that is not yet published. The new uploaded version is stored in Files as its own version number, and you are warned of the conflict the next time you try to edit the file from the Files list.
  - Reverting to last version
    When you are editing in HCL Connections™ Docs, if you are not satisfied with the current version of your document, you can revert to the last version that was published. You can choose to save or discard your current edits before you revert to the last version of a document.

    You can view an uploaded document, spreadsheet, presentation, or PDF file while you are working in Files.

    - Formatting numbers
      A number can look different from the actual value entered in a cell, depending on the number format. Number formats differentiate one kind of data from another; for example, currency from percentages. Number formats affect only how HCL Connections™ Docs displays numbers, not how it stores or calculates numbers.

      You can insert an image into a spreadsheet, and then resize and move the image.

      - Sorting data
        You can sort the data in a range, in ascending or descending order, based on the values in one or more columns that you specify. For English, the sort order is alphabetical. The sort order for German, Japanese, and French is controlled by the locale convention. For other languages, the order is controlled by Unicode values only.
      - Using instant filters
        Instant filters insert a combination box control on a data column so that you can select the records (rows) to be displayed.
      - Adding data validation in spreadsheets
        You can add data validation in spreadsheets to make data entry easier and reduce errors.
      - Freezing rows and columns in spreadsheets
        When a spreadsheet is very long or wide, you can freeze table headers or other contents and make them visible on the screen all the time by using the Freeze Rows and Freeze Columns commands.

      - Referencing cells from another sheet
        To avoid maintaining the same data on more than one sheet, you can link cell values on different sheets by using a reference.

        You can use keyboard shortcut keys in all browsers or menu item only in IE browser to cut, copy, and paste data and images within a spreadsheet, between spreadsheets, or between a spreadsheet and an external application.

        Make formulas easier to write and understand by naming important cell ranges and using the names in place of range addresses in formulas.
      - Finding or editing named ranges
        Use the Manage Named Ranges window to find all named ranges in a spreadsheet, or adjust which cells are included in a specific range.

        Use the Manage Ranges window to remove a named range without deleting the data that the range contains.
      - Relative and absolute references
        In formulas, you can represent data by using the cell address where the data is stored.
      - Protecting ranges and sheets in spreadsheets
        As the file owner or editor, you can limit who can edit a cell range or sheet by creating protected areas within the spreadsheet.

Showing rows and columns

You can show hidden rows and columns in a spreadsheet.

Procedure

To show hidden rows, do one of the following actions:
- Select a range that includes one or more hidden rows and click Format > Show Row.
- Select the two rows on both sides of the hidden row by dragging the row headers. Right-click the selection, and select Show.
The hidden row or rows are displayed.
To show a hidden column, do one of the following actions:
- Select a range that includes one or more hidden columns and click Format > Show Column.
- Select the two columns on both sides of the hidden column by dragging the column headers. Right-click the selection, and select Show.
The hidden column is displayed.
