Spreadsheets keyboard shortcuts

You can use shortcut keys to perform tasks in spreadsheets. All shortcuts are valid on Windows operating systems. On Mac OS, press Command instead of Ctrl.

This product uses standard Microsoft Windows and Macintosh navigation keys. The following table describes the keyboard shortcuts for some additional actions that you can perform in a spreadsheet.

Edit the previously entered contents of a cell F2 or Enter
Select all cells in the current spreadsheet Ctrl+A

Apply italics to the text in the cell Ctrl+I
Underline the text in the cell Ctrl+U
Copy selected data and related styles to the clipboard Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert
Paste data and related styles from the clipboard to a selected location Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert
Cut selected data and related styles to the clipboard Ctrl+X
Show the Page Setup window and start the conversion to a .pdf file that you can download and print. Ctrl+P
Start the redo function Ctrl+Y
Start the undo function Ctrl+Z
Find words or phrases in a spreadsheet Ctrl+F
In the edit mode, start a new line in a cell. Alt+Enter
In the edit mode, insert a line break in a cell. Ctrl+Enter
In the edit mode, cancel a cell entry. Esc
Delete the contents of the selected cell or range Delete or Backspace
Save the current spreadsheet Ctrl+S
In a row, move to the next cell in the same row. In a selected range, move to the next cell in the same row until the border of the range is reached; then move to the first cell in the next row in the range, and so on. Tab
Navigate forward in tab order Tab (when the focus is not on the editing area)
In a row, move to the previous cell in the same row. In a selected range, move to the previous cell in the same row until the border of the range is reached; then move to the last cell in the previous row in the range, and so on. Shift+Tab
Navigate backward in tab order Shift+Tab (when the focus is not on the editing area)
Move to the edge of the current data region (a range of cells that contains data and that is bounded by empty cells or spreadsheet borders). If no cells contain data, move to the farthest cell in the direction of the arrow that you press. Ctrl+arrow key (left, right, up, or down)
Select a range of cells Shift+arrow key (left, right, up, or down)
Move to the beginning of the current row Home
Move to the last cell in the current row. The cell moved to must contain data or have a style other than the default style. End
Move to the beginning of the current spreadsheet Ctrl+Home
Move to the end of the current spreadsheet Ctrl+End
Select a row or several rows of cells Shift+Space
Select all cells in the spreadsheet Ctrl+Shift+Space
Resize the row After selecting a row, press Alt+Up or down arrow.
Resize the column After selecting a column, press Alt+Right or left arrow.
Open the filter menu After selecting Instant Filter, press Alt+Down arrow.
Close the filter menu. Esc
Move the focus to the menu bar Alt+Shift+F
Move the focus to the toolbar Alt+F10
Move the focus to the sidebar Shift+F2
Select editor tokens when focus is on the sidebar Tab
