Copying and applying formatting

Use the Copy Formatting icon to copy formatting from one place to another in a document.

About this task

With Copy Formatting, you can save time by copying the text and paragraph properties from text that you already formatted to other text in the document, including text within tables and objects. Examples of properties that can be copied are fonts, colors, spacing, alignment, bullet styles, and so on.

Procedure

  1. Select the text or paragraph that you want to copy formatting from.
  2. Click the Copy Formatting icon Copy Formatting icon.
    Your cursor changes to a paintbrush.
  3. Drag the paintbrush over the text that you want to apply the formatting to, and then release the mouse button.

Note: If you want to copy formatting for several times, double-click Copy Formatting. Your cursor changes to a paintbrush. Drag the paintbrush over the text that you want to apply the formatting to.
