Inserting fields in documents

You can insert a date, time, and page number either in the text area or in the header and footer area.

Procedure

  • To insert a date or time in the text area, complete the following steps:
    1. Click Insert > Fields > Date or Insert > Fields > Time.
    2. Select a date or time format, and then click OK.
  • To insert a page number in the text area, click Insert > Page Number > Current Position.
  • To insert a date or time in the header or footer area, complete the following steps:
    1. Double-click the header or footer area.
    2. Click Insert > Fields > Date or Insert > Fields > Time.
    3. Select a date or time format, and then click OK.
  • To insert a page number into the header or footer area, click Insert > Page Number > Top of Page to insert the page number in the header or Insert > Page Number > Bottom of Page to insert the page number in the footer.
