Site search statistics

Read your customers' minds by reviewing two new statistical reports about the keywords customers use to search your site. Use insights from these reports to optimize your site search, improve your site navigation, and ultimately increase conversions.

How can I use site search statistics to improve my site?

Both of the new reports can inspire ideas for optimizing your site search and selling more products:
Top Search Hits report
This report provides statistical data about the keywords customers used most frequently to search your site using the search field. Review the keywords to understand which products, brands and content your customers want the most, and take action by:
  • Optimizing search results for top keywords so that your hottest products get top ranking.
  • Creating landing pages for top keywords that make your products irresistible.
  • Building campaigns around the products, categories, and brands that match top keywords.
Top Search Misses report
This report provides statistical data about keywords your customers used to search your site that did not return any matching search results. Turn the misses into sales opportunities by:
  • Creating search term associations for missed keywords so that customers see relevant products in the search results.
  • Adding missed keywords to relevant product descriptions so that the keywords get indexed.
  • Improving your site design and landing pages so that customers can find site content without resorting to search.

If your site has WebSphere Commerce search enabled, you can take advantage of these new reports.

Which user roles use site search statistics?

The following user roles can access these reports in the Catalogs tool:
  • Catalog and Product Managers who want to enhance site search and make related improvements.
