To start the Merge Manager from File browser (Linux and the UNIX system)

About this task

Start the Merge Manager from the context of a view that is not associated with a UCM project or without view context.

If you work in a UCM project, start a merge in the context of a deliver or rebase operation.

Procedure

  1. If the target versions are checked out to your view for other reasons, create a pre-merge checkpoint by checking them in. To make it easier to find this checkpoint, consider labeling the versions.
  2. In the display area of the File Browser, navigate to the directory of the view containing the objects to be merged.
  3. Select an object or objects of interest.
  4. Click Versions > Findmerge and select one of the following commands to restrict the Find Merge search:

Whole VOB, Any VOB, Current subtree, Current dir, or Selected items

  5. Click one of the following commands:
    CommandDescription
From .../branch/LATEST > viewTo find all elements that need merging from the latest on a branch to the version seen by the current view. A browser prompts for the branch.
From label > viewTo find all elements that need merging from a particular labeled version to the version seen by the current view. A browser prompts for the label.
From version-id > viewTo find all elements that need merging from a particular version specified by a query to the version seen by the current view. A text box prompts for the version-id query.
From another view > viewTo find all elements that need merging from the version of an element seen in another view to the version seen by the current view. A browser prompts for the view tag.
LATEST > checkedoutTo find all elements that are checked out to the current view and need the latest version on the branch from which they were checked out to be merged to the checked-out version.
