To add shortcuts to your Windows Send To folder

About this task

Before opening a version of a source file with the Send To command on the shortcut menu, you must add an application's shortcut to your Send To folder. For example, if you want to open version 2 of prog.c in Microsoft Visual Studio, you create a shortcut to Visual Studio in the Send To folder.

To add shortcuts to your Windows Send To folder:

Procedure

  1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the icon for an application that will open your source files.
  2. Right-click the icon, and on the shortcut menu, click Create Shortcut.
  3. Right-click the shortcut you just created, and on the shortcut menu, click Cut.
  4. Navigate to your Send To folder. You can also use the Find tool to find the Send To folder.
  5. Right-click the Send To folder, and on the shortcut menu, click Paste.
