About the element log

The element log contains messages returned from HCL VersionVault tools during the find and merge operations.

• Merge start time
• Events associated with the merge
• Contributors
• Merge finish time

The Merge Manager denotes each sequence of messages using the following format:

>>> name operation started: date time-of-day 
... 
>>> name operation finished: date time-of-day 

The displayed lines of messages in the sequence record the HCL VersionVault steps in the merge, for example, branch creation, checkouts, and the location of merged output.

For each message in the element log, the Merge Manager indicates in the main window the related status with an icon to the left of the element name column. For more information, see the diff, merge, and find reference pages. Use the icons to detect problems and use the related messages in the element log to help analyze and fix the problems.
