Creating tags in a new registry region

Create tags in the new region to make VOBs and views accessible to clients in that region.

About this task

There are several ways to populate a newly created registry region with tags:
  • The Region Synchronizer, a Windows® GUI, makes it easy to import VOB tags and view tags from a region on Linux or the UNIX system, to a region on Windows®. To start the Region Synchronizer, click Start > Programs > HCL > HCL VersionVault > Administration > Region Synchronizer. For help about using the Region Synchronizer, click Help in the Synchronize VersionVault Regions window that opens when you start the Region Synchronizer. (There is no region synchronizer application on HCL VersionVault hosts running Linux or the UNIX system.)
  • The HCL VersionVault Administration Console provides a more general interface to regions and tags. It can be used to manipulate tags regardless of which supported operating system the registry host is running. You can use it to create and delete tags and to copy tags to another region. When you use the HCL VersionVault Administration Console to manipulate tags, you must change the global path of each tag to make all of them valid for hosts in the new region. (The Region Synchronizer automates this operation for the specific case of importing a tag from a region on Linux or the UNIX system to a region on Windows®.)
  • You can use the cleartool mktag command.
