Starting an A/B test

You can start an A/B test immediately or schedule the test to begin later. When the A/B test begins, the test splits run sequentially, in the order in which they are listed in the A/B configuration.

Before you begin

Before scheduling an A/B test, ensure that the corresponding flowchart, using the OLT, has completed its run.

Before you can start an A/B test, you must first enable a mailing for A/B testing and then configure the A/B test for the mailing. The A/B test configuration specifies several test splits. You also configure when the system evaluates the recipient responses to the split tests.

You can generate a deliverability report for each test split and for the winning split. If you intend to run deliverability reports, select "Include seedlist for Deliverability monitoring" checkbox when you start or schedule the A/B test. The system uses the same deliverability List for all of the splits, including the winning split.

Procedure

  • To start an A/B test immediately, click Send This Mailing on the summary mailing tab.

    Complete the mailing confirmation checklist.

The first split that is configured in the A/B test begins to run immediately.
  • To run the A/B test later, click Schedule This Mailing on the summary mailing tab.

A wizard opens to create the mailing schedule. Complete all scheduling preparations that are required for a scheduled mailing and complete the mailing confirmation checklist.

The first split that is configured for the A/B test starts at the date and time you scheduled the mailing to start. However, the system evaluates the recipient responses according to the evaluation schedule specified in the A/B test configuration.
