Enabling HTTP Connect Tunneling for audio and video calls

If you are enabling HTTP Connect Tunneling for audio and video calls, configure the Sametime® SIP Proxy/Registrar and the Sametime TURN Server to listen on port 443. Install them on separate computers. Also, ensure that no other applications are listening on port 443 to avoid port conflict.

Before you begin

Enable NAT Traversal before enabling HTTP Connect. The HTTP Connect feature is disabled by default. For instructions on enabling NAT traversal, see this procedure: Enabling NAT traversal.

About this task

Sametime only supports the HTTP forward proxy on non-SSL ports, so outbound connections are only allowed on ports 80 and 443. To enable HTTP Connect Tunneling for audio and video calls, change the default setting to 443 on the SIP port for the following servers:
  • Sametime SIP Proxy/Registrar (or SIP Edge Proxy Server if deployed)
  • Sametime TURN Server

For information about setting SIP ports, see Configuring SIP ports on the SIP Edge Proxy server. For information about setting Sametime TURN Server ports, see Setting TURN Server ports.

Only HTTP forward proxy without SSL is supported.
