Create a secure password file for the Remote Build client

Use the procedure in this topic to create a secure password file for a Remote Build client. This procedure needs to be completed for each client that connects to a Remote Build server running with authentication mode 2 or S.

About this task

Use rccMKSecure to create a secure password file for a Remote Build client. Running rccMKSecure provides encrypted storage of the mainframe password on the client. rccMKSecure creates a secure password file named .rccSecure.
  • On Linux® and the UNIX® system, the file resides in the directory defined by the system environment variable HOME. If you have root authority, the secure file is stored in the directory where password file is stored.
  • On Windows®, the file resides in the directory defined by the system environment variable USERPROFILE.
Do not modify these system environment variables. You can change the location of the rccSecure file by specifying environment variable RB_USER_HOME_DIR.

Procedure

To create a secure password file for Remote Build, run rccMKSecure You can also use this process to update an expired password.

rccMKSecure is installed in the clearcase/bin directory. There are two ways to run rccMKSecure: interactive and batch mode.
