Inserting an image with the rich text editor

Add an image to an entry in an IBM® Connections application.

Before you begin

As an alternative to inserting an image, you can also paste an image that you copied to the clipboard or drag-and-drop it from your file system or from a webpage.

About this task

You can add an image by referencing a URL or by pasting an image that you copied to the clipboard. You cannot upload images from your file system except in the Blogs, Forums, and Wikis applications.

You can add any image file format that is supported by your browser. The most widely supported image formats are BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, and RAW.

Note: This function differs across applications. In most applications, for example, it is not possible to upload an image from your computer, paste an image, nor use an attached image that you already uploaded. Those abilities are supported in Blogs, Forums, and Wikis only. Moreover, pasting an image is supported in the Chrome, Firefox, and Safari browsers only; it is not supported in Internet Explorer. For more information, see the Adding an image to a wiki page, Adding forum topics, and Adding an image to a blog posting topics.

The URL where the image file is located. If the image is on an external server, use the full address; for example: http://example.com/image.png. If the image is on the same server as the IBM Connections application, use a relative path; for example: /images/image.png.
    Alternative text
Add descriptive text about the image to make it accessible to visually impaired users.

Width of the image in pixels.
    Height
Height of the image in pixels.

If the image is on the same server as the IBM Connections application, use a relative path; for example: /page1.html.

Specify whether the link opens in a new window, the topmost window, the same window, or the parent window. For more information, go to the HTML <a> target Attribute webpage.
