IBM Connections Search

When you perform a search in IBM® Connections, your query is analyzed to return the optimum results.

The Search application ensures that different word forms, such as plurals, verb endings, and grammatical tenses, are matched correctly in the search results. For example, when you search for the term goose, you might expect to get results that contain the term geese. Similarly, when you search for the term run, you might expect to get results that include the terms ran or running.

The more often that your search term appears in a document, the higher that content is ranked in your search results. The number of times that a search term appears in Bookmarks also influences its ranking in your search results. Similarly, the number of times that a search term appears in content that has been liked or recommended influences the ranking of the search results.

A document that has a search term in its title or in a tag is ranked higher than a document with a search term in its content only. More recently updated documents that contains a search term are ranked higher than older documents.

The type of content that is searched may vary between applications. For example, content from file attachments is searched only in the Activities, Files, and Wikis applications. For more information about what type of content is searched, see the Searchable content topic.
