HCL Commerce Developer

Setting up an HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment

In previous iterations of HCL Commerce, all site features were developed within a single development environment. This environment was built with the HCL Commerce Developer software package. With HCL Commerce Version 9.1, this environment has been renamed to the HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment to more reflect its usage within the product. Use the HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment to continue the development of migrated IBM Websphere Commerce Version 7 or IBM Websphere Commerce Version 8 Solr-based search and Aurora-based store solutions. You can also use the HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment to make customizations to your Transaction server or Customization server logic, and to build your site customizations for deployment.

To set up a HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment, you must install the HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment software and then set your development environment workspace to use either an IBM Db2, or Oracle database. After you set your database, you can also publish an Aurora-based sample store to experiment with or customize, or continue development of the features and functionality of a migrated store.

Attention:
  • Coexistence with other versions of the HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment is not supported. If you are migrating, install HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment on a separate machine from your old HCL Commerce development environment.
  • If you are upgrading an existing HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment, see HCL Commerce Developer Update Package overview.
  • Upon installation, the HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment is configured for use with the newer Elasticsearch-based search solution. If you are intending to use your Developer Legacy environment to maintain or develop a Solr-based search solution, you must reconfigure your environment. For more information, see Configuring your HCL Commerce Developer Legacy environment for use with the Solr-based search solution.
