Changing rule-based sales categories

You can update the properties for a rule-based sales category when you want to change the information about the category. For example, you might want to change the description of the category or add or remove parent categories.

Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.
  2. Select your store from the Select Store list
  3. From the explorer filter, select Sales Catalog Categories.
  4. From the explorer view, right-click the rule-based sales category that you want to change. Click Open.
  5. Expand the General Catalog Information section. Change the following information as needed:
    PropertyDescription
    Code The language independent category identifier.
    Name The name of the category. This field can be edited in multiple languages.
    Short description Type a brief description of the category.
    Long description

    Type a detailed description, if applicable.

    Keyword Type one or more keywords, which are separated by a comma and a space that describe the contents of the Web page. Some Internet search engines use these keywords to determine whether your page satisfies a search query. This field can be edited in multiple languages.
    Parents (sales catalog)

    The sales catalog or sales categories to which the rule-based sales category belongs. You can include only one sales catalog and multiple sales categories. Any parent categories that you include must be in the same sales catalog as the rule-based sales category.

  6. Expand the Display information. Change the following information as needed:
    PropertyDescription
    Display to customers Select this check box to indicate that customers can view this category in the storefront.You can have a different setting for this category for each language that your store supports. For instance, you can display the category for customers that are browsing your store in French, but not when customers are browsing your store in English.
    Thumbnail Type the path to the thumbnail image and the name of the image, such as images/shirt.jpg. The forward slash (/) must be used as the directory separator.
    Full image Type in the relative path to the full image. The forward slash (/) must be used as the directory separator.
  7. Click Save; then click Close.
