Configuring IBM Web Content Manager to work with WebSphere Commerce

Configure IBM Web Content Manager to create libraries and templates for WebSphere Commerce content. You must also set permissions for WebSphere Commerce user groups to enable users to access the content through the integration.

Procedure

  1. In IBM WebSphere Portal, create a library with the content that is used in IBM Web Content Manager and Management Center.
For more information about web content libraries, see IBM Web Content Manager libraries. For more information about creating a library, see the topic "Creating web content libraries" in the IBM WebSphere Portal product help. This help is available when you are working within the application.
  2. Set the permissions for the All Authenticated Portal Users and the Management Center administrative user groups to assign these groups to roles for the library.
Add the Management Center administrative user group to the Admin role and the All Authenticated Portal Users group to the User role. For more information about setting permission for a library, see the topic "Defining roles within a library" in the IBM WebSphere Portal product help.
  3. Edit the preferences for the WebSphere Commerce Integrator portlet application on the IBM Web Content Manager for WebSphere Commerce page.
    1. Go to Administration > Portlet Management > Applications
    2. In the Manage Applications section, change the Search by criteria to be Title contains. Search for wcm.
    3. Select the WebSphere Commerce Integrator portlet application. Click the configure application configure icon.
    4. Edit the AuroraESite.libraries preference. Set the value for this preference to be the name of the library that you want to use in WebSphere Commerce.

For more information about editing a preference to a library, see the topic "Modifying portlet settings" in the IBM WebSphere Portal product help.

  4. Create the authoring and presentation templates for the web content library.
Ensure that authoring and presentation templates are created for each content type that you want to retrieve from IBM Web Content Manager and use in WebSphere Commerce. Associate the presentation template with the authoring template for each content type that is to be used in WebSphere Commerce.
    1. Create authoring templates for the following content types.
For example, to create templates for resource, link, HTML, and text content, you can use the following settings
Content type Element type Rendering type File Resource Element
      Resource File Resource Resource Resource
      Link Link Link Link Reference
HTML HTML or Text N/A N/A
      Text Text N/A N/A
    2. Create the presentation templates for the content types.
For example, to create templates for resource, link, HTML, and text content, you can use the following settings
Content type Tag type Source item type Item context Element to reference
      Resource Element Context Current Resource
      Link Element Context Current Link
      HTML Element Context Current HTML
      Text Element Context Current Text
For more information about creating these templates, see the "Creating a content template" and "Creating a presentation template" topics in the product help. For more information about associated a presentation template with an authoring template, see the topic "Define content item properties" in the IBM WebSphere Portal product help.
  5. Optional: Create site areas for the WebSphere Commerce content within the web content library.
Create a main site area for all WebSphere Commerce content by using the Default Site Area Template. Create site areas for each type of WebSphere Commerce content that users can retrieve links for through the integration. For example, if your WebSphere Commerce store uses resource, link, HTML, and text content, create a site area for each type. Choose the main WebSphere Commerce content site area as the location for these site areas.

For more information, see the topic "Creating site areas" in the IBM WebSphere Portal product help.

  6. Optional: Use the authoring templates to create content for the web content library to use in WebSphere Commerce.
For more information, see "Creating content item," in the IBM WebSphere Portal product help.
