Testing the integration between IBM Web Content Manager and WebSphere Commerce

Test the integration by using Management Center to launch IBM Web Content Manager for authoring and selecting content to use within Management Center.

About this task

To test the integration, you can launch IBM Web Content Manager from multiple points in Management Center. The following steps test the integration by retrieving content to use as an associated asset for a product. The following steps also test the integration by retrieving content to display as marketing content in a marketing activity. You can also test your integration by launching IBM Web Content Manager to select any kind of content for multiple types of Management Center objects. You can launch IBM Web Content Manager for any point where you can select a piece of content.

Procedure

Log on to Management Center to verify that you can use punch-out option for content to launch IBM Web Content Manager. Ensure that you can access content in your content libraries in IBM Web Content Managerand import information for the content (paths) into Management Center.
  1. Open the Catalogs tool.
  2. Optional: If workspaces are enabled, select to work on approved content.
  3. Locate a product that you want to associate a piece of content with as an associated asset.
    For example, a thumbnail or a full image.
  4. Right-click the product; then click Open. The product properties view displays.
  5. Click the Associated Assets tab.
  6. For the Associated asset table, select URL in the dropdown menu. Select the Edit managed content button next to the URL entry in the table. The punch-out window to IBM Web Content Manager opens. Ensure that you are automatically logged on to the application. If the automatic logon occurs, the single sign-on between the applications is successful.
  7. Select a piece of content in IBM Web Content Manager and save your selection. The window closes. Ensure that the URL to the content you selected in IBM Web Content Manager displays as the associated asset for the product in Management Center.
  8. Save your changes.
  9. Right-click the URL entry in the Associated asset table. Click Preview. Locate the product in the storefront and verify that the associated content from IBM Web Content Manager displays for the product.
Verify that Management Center can retrieve content from IBM Web Content Manager for use as marketing content in marketing activities in the storefront.
  1. Open the Assets tool.
  2. From the toolbar, click the New icon Create New icon; then select Attachment.
  3. Enter information into the mandatory fields for the content. For the Files or URLs table, select URL in the dropdown menu. Select the Edit managed content button next to the URL entry in the table. The punch-out window to IBM Web Content Manager opens.
  4. Select a piece of content in IBM Web Content Manager and save your selection. The window closes and you return to working within Management Center. Ensure that the URL to the content you selected in IBM Web Content Manager displays as the associated asset for the product in Management Center.
  5. Save your changes.
  6. Open the Marketing tool.
  7. From the toolbar, click the New icon Create New icon; then select Content.
  8. Enter information into the mandatory fields for the content. For the Content type, select Asset.
  9. In the Associated asset table, add the attachment that contains content that is retrieved from IBM Web Content Manager. You can also select to search or browse for content and directly retrieve content from IBM Web Content Manager as an associated asset.
  10. Create a web activity that displays content. Include the marketing content that you created in the activity. Activate the activity.
  11. Open store preview. Locate the e-Marketing Spot that displays the activity in the storefront and verify that the content from IBM Web Content Manager displays.

Results

If the content retrieved from IBM Web Content Manager displays successfully in Management Center and the storefront, the integration is complete.
