Addressing problems found by VersionVault Doctor

About this task

When HCL VersionVault Doctor reports a problem, you typically respond as follows:

Procedure

  1. Read about the problem (double-click the problem title or the problem icon).
  2. Decide what action to take.

Results

You may have some or all of the following options:

  • Have VersionVault Doctor fix the problem for you.

You have this option if the Edit > Fix command is available. If you use this command, VersionVault Doctor makes the fix, as described in the problem statement, and moves the problem description to the Resolutions page.

  • Use the Control Panel to fix the problem yourself.

Some problems may require that you use the VersionVault program in Control Panel. This is the case if the Edit > Launch Control Panel command is available. If you fix a problem in this way, VersionVault Doctor moves the problem description to the Resolutions page and marks the problem Fixed by Control Panel. However, the problem is not displayed on the Resolutions page the next time you run VersionVault Doctor.

  • Tell VersionVault Doctor to ignore the problem.

You have this option when the Edit > Ignore command is available. In some cases, you may be able to ignore a problem if you feel that the situation in which it becomes a problem does not apply to your environment. If you select this option, VersionVault Doctor moves the problem description to the Resolutions page and marks the problem Ignored.

  • Use a mechanism outside of VersionVault Doctor to fix the problem.

If you fix a problem by hand, VersionVault Doctor does not mention the problem when it runs again and does not list the problem on the Resolutions page.

To undo a resolution

  1. On the Resolutions page, click the problem description.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If you previously chose to fix the problem, click Edit > Undo.
    • If you previously chose to ignore the problem, click Edit > Undo Ignore.

VersionVault Doctor restores the problem to the state it was in before you resolved it, and removes the problem from the Resolutions page.
