The HCL VersionVault registry is an integral part of most HCL VersionVault operations, so the registry server host must be stable, available, and accessible to all hosts in the network.

    You can configure an HCL VersionVault host running Linux® or the UNIX system to support access to VOBs and dynamic views from computers that do not run HCL VersionVault.

    If you can estimate the number of elements, versions, and derived objects that a VOB will ultimately contain, you can compute a very rough estimate of the size of a VOB that can accommodate them. VOB storage includes a database and pools. On Windows®, the database and pools must reside on a single disk partition. On Linux® or the UNIX system, the pools can be located on a different partition or host, using symbolic links.

The registry client list

You can use the registry client list to determine which HCL VersionVault hosts are clients of a specific registry server.

Every registry server maintains a list of the clients that have contacted it within the past 30 days. This client list is displayed by commands and GUIs such as cleartool lsclients and the HCL VersionVault Administration Console; it is also used by the rgy_switchover command, as described in HCL VersionVault registry backup and switchover. You cannot add clients to or remove them from this list manually.
