Unica Deliver is a web-based, enterprise scale marketing message solution that you can use to conduct outbound bulk messaging and transactional messaging campaigns. Deliver integrates with Unica Campaign and with secure message composition, transmission, and tracking resources that are hosted by Unica.
Selecting email recipients
If you install and enable Unica Deliver within Campaign, then you can create a list that defines the recipients for a personalized messaging campaign. The list contains the recipient information that is used to address and personalize each message. You create a recipient list by configuring a Deliver process in a Campaign flowchart.
Recipient list definition
You define a recipient list as an Output List Table (OLT) with the Output tab of a Deliver process in a Campaign flowchart. The table stores recipient IDs, email addresses, phone numbers for Push, SMS, and WhatsApp and additional personalization data and metadata that are selected and produced during the flowchart run.
About display names for personalization fields
On the Output tab of the Deliver process, the Selected as personalization fields section lists the personalization fields in the Output List Table (OLT). The fields are assigned a field name and a display name.

      When you map a field in your marketing database to an OLT, the JDBC driver for your marketing database communicates the datatype that it has defined for the source database field. The JDBC data type must be one of the data types that Deliver supports.

    An Output List Table is not required to personalize transactional messages. For transactional messages, corporate transaction management systems and a local transactional messagel client application provide the recipient information instead of an OLT.

    After you define, save, and upload a recipient list as an Output List Table (OLT), you can update the list definition, update the data in the list, or delete the list. You can also manually clear data from a list that contains recipient data.

    Data retention practices observed in HCL Unica automatically remove an uploaded recipient list from HCL Unica when the list is inactive for more than 30 days. Removing the recipient list removes all personal data and metadata that is associated with individuals on the list.

  Digital marketers construct email, landing pages, WhatsApp messages, and text messages in Unica Deliver in the Deliver Message Editor. Marketers without specific HTML editing experience can create valid, full-featured HTML email and landing pages with the editing and personalization tools in the Message Editor.

  Email and landing page templates are documents that you create outside of the Deliver Message Editor to define the layout of personalized email, hosted landing pages. The design of the template guides the design of the message. To create personalized email, marketers add content to the template by modifying the template or by using editing tools that are provided in the Message Editor.

  The Deliver Message Editor provide several ways to insert images and videos into personalized messages. You can add images and videos from the Content Library or add them from external sources when you send each message.

Preview simulates how personalized parts of the Deliver document used to create the email, landing page, SMS, WhatsApp may change according to the personal characteristics of each recipient.

Publishing a communication does not transmit the communication to message recipients or landing page visitors.   Personalization fields provide the means to add recipient-specific information from your marketing database to a SMS, email, WhatsApp, push notifications . Personalization fields are also used in rules that control how conditionalized content displays in each personalized message.

  Deliver provides a template-based scripting language for creating self-contained scripts that provide a way to personalize content in ways that you cannot easily duplicate in the Deliver Message Editor.

  You can add offers that you define in Unica Campaign to personalized email that you create and send through Unica Deliver. Including offers in your marketing email gives you an opportunity to deliver a timely and targeted call to action to your audience. The system collects the offer responses and makes the data available in the Campaign contact and response history for use in Campaign performance reports.

Display names for personalization fields

On the Output tab of the Deliver process, the Selected as personalization fields section lists the personalization fields in the Output List Table (OLT). The fields are assigned a field name and a display name.

The Field Name column presents the personalization field name as it appears in the database. Deliver assigns this name. You cannot change it.

The Display Name column displays the personalization field name as it appears in the Message Editor and in the configuration of messaging campaigns. You can change the default display name.

The system uses personalization field display names in the following ways.

When you create a personalized message in the Deliver Message Editor or Quick Builder, the system uses display names to identify personalization fields in the document.
The display name appears in the Message Editor or Quick Builder on the list of personalization fields that are available for use in the document.
If you use advanced scripting for email, you must use the display name to declare the personalization fields that are used in the scripts you write.
Mailing campaigns list the personalization fields that are in use according to their display name, and do the same in error and warning messages.

When you define a personalization field, Deliver assigns a display name to a personalization field based on the name of the available field in your marketing database. You can overwrite the display name that Deliver assigns. Thereafter, Deliver uses the new display name to identify the personalization field when you use it in other output list tables.

If you use a field in your data mart (one listed as an available field) to create personalization fields in multiple OLTs, Deliver suggests the display name that is most recently associated with the available field. You can change the display name that is used for this personalization field as many times as you require. If you use the same personalization field in other OLTs, changing the display name in the OLT you are currently configuring does not update the other OLT configurations. However, changing the display name does mean that the same personalization field appears in other recipient lists and documents under a different name.
