Recipient lists and transactional messages

An Output List Table is not required to personalize transactional messages. For transactional messages, corporate transaction management systems and a local transactional messagel client application provide the recipient information instead of an OLT.

You can enable any standard messaging to send transactional messages. In a standard messaging, the Output List Table (OLT) provides the personalization information that is used in the messages. However, to send transactional messages, the system does not use the OLT, even if one is referenced by a messaging that is enabled for transactional message.

Although an OLT is not required to personalize transactional messages, you can use an OLT to test the appearance and behavior of messages that are sent as transactional message. Referencing an OLT in a transactional messaging provides a way to use standard messaging test methods to check personalization elements in the message.
