Viewing and managing user devices

The following information describes the content of each of the four views in the IBM Traveler server administration interface that contain information about users and devices. These views are available both in the web based administration interface and in the Domino® administration client interface.

Device security view

This view is used to manage the security status of mobile devices connected to the IBM Traveler server. In addition to the data displayed in the view, there are action buttons available that will perform operations on devices selected in the view. See Controlling access to the administration interface to learn how to control which users are allowed to perform these actions. The actions include:
  • Deny Access - Selecting a device and the Deny Access button from the action bar displays a dialog to confirm whether the administrator wants to deny access to the selected device or not. Clicking Yes executes the requested action to deny access for that device. The page will auto refresh with the updates. The Access field for the corresponding device gets updated with the value "Deny." Once the device is in the "Deny" state, it will not be allowed to connect to the IBM Traveler server. For more information, refer to Denying or allowing access to a device.
  • Wipe Device - Selecting a device and the Wipe Device button displays a dialog with the wipe options available for that specific device. More than one option can be selected at a time. Note that after issuing a Wipe Device action, the device will also be prohibited from connecting to the IBM Traveler server until a Clear Wipe/Allow Access action is executed. For more information, refer to Remote wipe.
  • Clear Wipe/Allow Access - This action clears any previous wipe and deny request. For more information, refer to Clearing a wipe request.
  • Change Approval - Selecting the Change Approval button displays a dialog from which you can Approve or Deny an access request from a mobile device. This action is used when the Device Approval security policy is enabled. For more information, refer to Requiring approval for device access.
  • Update SMS Address - This action allows the IBM Traveler administrator to configure an SMS Mailbox Address specifically for use on a Wipe Request. This support is deprecated and supported on Android clients prior to IBM Verse Android 10.0.4 only. Selecting this action button displays a message box in which the user can enter the SMS Mailbox Address. Leaving the SMS address value empty in the message box clears any existing SMS address. For more information, refer to Updating an SMS mail address (Deprecated).

Column

Information displayed

User

The Domino® name of the user.

Device Name

The name of the device as reported by the device firmware.

Approval

Allows administrators to require approval for new devices registering on the IBM Traveler server.

For more information approving or denying a device, refer to Requiring approval for device access.

Security Policy

The status of the security policy for this device. Values include:
  • No policy
  • Compliant
  • Compliant - limited
  • Not compliant

The value Not Supported is for device client levels before 8.5.

Additional details about security policy compliance status for a device are available by opening the device document in the Device Security view.

Note: No Policy displays when the device or application password setting is not enabled. Some of the device security settings that are automatically enforced by the server and require no user action will show as No Policy under Security Policy. For example, the following settings could exhibit No Policy:
  • Prohibit export of calendar to OS
  • Prohibit export of contacts to OS
  • Prohibit use of Untrusted Certificates
  • Prohibit Load of Remote Images
  • Prohibit download of Attachments
  • Require Mobile Application Management

Deny is used when a remote wipe or deny access action has been taken. Prohibit indicates that the setting Prohibit devices incapable of security enablement is enabled and the device is incapable supporting remote wipe or the requested security settings.

Wipe Options

The wipe operations that were specified for the wipe request.

Wipe Status

Values include:

  • Pending
  • Error

Additional time and date information is available by opening the device document in the Device Security view.

Devices view

This view displays information for each mobile device that is currently registered with the IBM Traveler server. In addition to the data displayed in the view, there is an action button available that will perform operations on devices selected in the view. The actions include:

Column

Information displayed

User
