Bar charts

You can use bar charts to illustrate comparisons among individual items. Data in columns or rows on a sheet can be transformed into a bar chart.

Horizontal bar charts are best for comparing values at a single point in time.

Bar charts have two chart subtypes:
  • Clustered bar clustered bar

    You can use a clustered bar chart to show comparisons across categories. In a clustered bar chart, the categories are typically organized along the vertical axis and values along the horizontal axis.

  • Stacked bar stacked bar

    You can use a stacked bar chart to show the relationship of individual items to the whole.
