Setting up a secure password for the TSO Client feature

To secure access to the server component of TSO Client on your distributed system, set the distributed system password by using the client component of TSO Client on the mainframe. This procedure needs to be completed for each TSO Client that accesses a TSO Client server using password authentication.

Before you begin

Before you can set up a secure password for the TSO Client, you need to start the TSO Client server.

About this task

You can also use this process to set a new password when your password expires.

Procedure

To set up a secure password for the TSO Client:
  1. In the TSO Client mainframe application, on the option line of the TSO Client Main Menu, type 1.
    The Distributed User Specification window opens.
  2. In the Distributed User Specification window, specify the following information in the appropriate fields.
    The Distributed Host Name field will be filled in for you, based on your environment definition.
    • Distributed User Name: The distributed system user name that you will use to access the distributed system.
    • Distributed Password: The password you will use to access the distributed system. Passwords may contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0–9).
  3. If you have enabled ClearQuest® user authentication in your environment definition, you can also set the following ClearQuest credentials:
    • CQ Database Set The database in which the user credentials are defined.
    • CQ User Name Your ClearQuest user ID.
    • CQ Password Your ClearQuest password.
  4. Press Enter.
    Your information is saved.
