Using table views

Define columns in list view tables to personalize the Management Center user interface. You can reorder, show or hide columns, or change the column width the way that works best for you. These table column settings are persisted across Management Center sessions. You can also edit columns in list view tables.

Procedure

To sort, show or hide columns, change the column width, or edit columns:
  1. Open a Management Center tool.
  2. From a list view:
    OptionDescription
Reorder columns There are two ways to change the default order of columns:
    • Drag any column heading to the location you want within the list view.
    • Right-click any column heading in the list view and select Configure Columns to display the Column Selector dialog. Highlight a column name and click Move Up to move the column ahead of other columns, or click Move Down to move the column after other columns. Use these arrow icons to sort all columns the way that you want. After you complete your changes, click Apply and then OK.
Show columns Right-click any column heading in the list view and select Configure Columns to display the Column Selector dialog. For column headings you want to show, select the column heading names from the list within the dialog.
Hide columns There are two ways to hide columns:
    • Right-click the column heading you want to hide and select Hide. Note that this option is not available if the column is a required column (indicated with an asterisk next to the column heading).
    • Right-click any column heading in the list view and select Configure Columns to display the Column Selector dialog. For column headings you want to hide, clear the column heading names from the list within the dialog. Note that you cannot hide a column that is a required column (required columns are disabled).
Change column width There are two ways to change the width of columns:
    • Drag the right edge of any column heading to a new position.
    • Right-click any column heading in the list view and select Configure Columns to display the Column Selector dialog. From the list of columns, select the column for which you want to change the width. In the Width of selected column (in pixels) field, specify a new width for the column, in pixels.
Edit in place Click an editable cell within a table to make changes on the spot. Editing in place is a quick way to make simple changes, without having to go into the properties view of an object. For instance, within a table that lists products, change the price of the product to reflect a new price or to correct an error in a product description.
Edit columns Edit several cells in the same column at once to contain the same value. For example, in an editable list view, select multiple rows in a column that you want to update with the same value and use one of the following methods to edit the column:
    • From the toolbar, click Edit Column.
    • From the Edit menu, select Edit Column.
    • Right-click the column heading; then click Edit Column.

The Edit Column dialog opens so that you can choose a column to edit and specify the value that you want to apply to this column for each of the selected rows.
