        Changing the development database type by using the setdbtype command
        After you install WebSphere Commerce Developer, the development environment is configured to use the Apache Derby database. If needed, you can change the database type to DB2, Oracle, or back to Apache Derby, by running the setdbtype command. Ensure that the database that you are switching to exists in your network. Changing development database types does not carry over any schema customizations or custom data to the new database.

Installing WebSphere Commerce Developer

You can install WebSphere Commerce Developer silently, or by using the IBM Installation Manager GUI.

Note: You can also replicate the WebSphere Commerce Developer installation to multiple machines by using the Enterprise Deployment Utility. For more information, see Installing software by using the Enterprise Deployment Utility.

Before you begin

Ensure that Rational Application Developer Version 9.5 Fix Pack 1 (9.5.0.1) is installed. For information about installing Rational Application Developer, see Installing Rational Application Developer or Rational Software Architect Version 9.5 or 9.6.
Ensure that WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5.5 Fix Pack 7 is installed. For information about installing WebSphere Application Server, see Installing and preparing WebSphere Application Server.
Ensure that SDK Java Technology Edition Version 7.0 SR9 FP10 or any later 7.0 Service Refresh is installed.
