Preparing your systems to install WebSphere Commerce

Before you start the WebSphere Commerce Installation wizard, complete the following checklist.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that no other installation programs are active. Ensure that the installation programs are completed or manually stop them before you install WebSphere Commerce.
  2. Windows Ensure that the Windows administration user ID under which the installation is performed has the appropriate user rights. For instructions on granting user rights, see Granting user rights to a Windows user ID.
  3. Windows Ensure that the Windows administration user ID under which the installation is performed is not the same as the host name of the machine.
    For example, for a machine with a host name of machine1, do not install by using the administration user ID machine1.
  4. Windows Ensure that any antivirus programs are disabled.
    Antivirus programs interfere with the installation when you change DVDs in the DVD-ROM drive.
  5. Windows Stop all running applications.
  6. Ensure that any Lotus Notes server, Web servers, Java application servers, and any nonessential Java processes are stopped before you install WebSphere Commerce.
  7. Windows Stop any database servers on the system.
  8. Stop the Web server if you have a Web server or any other service on your machine that is using any of the following ports: 80, 443, 5432, 5433, 8000, 8001, 8002, 8004, 8006, and 8007.
  9. LinuxAIX Create the user IDs and groups that are needed by WebSphere Commerce on any machine on which you plan to install WebSphere Commerce.
  10. For IBM i OS operating system Create a user profile on any machine on which you plan to install WebSphere Commerce.

  11. For IBM i OS operating system Ensure that the system-wide coded character set identifier (CCSID) is set to the appropriate value.
    For example, for English systems, specify a value of 37 by using the following command.
    1. WRKSYSVAL SYSVAL(QCCSID)
    2. In the Work with System Values display, select option 2 (Change) to change the CCSID.
    3. For English systems, specify a value of 37.
  12. LinuxAIX Ensure that your operating system does not log your command-line inputs.
  13. Linux Transfer required installation files to a Linux machine.
